Getting Started

Set up your nutrition practice on MealCraft in under 10 minutes.

Welcome to MealCraft. This guide walks you through setting up your practice and creating your first meal plan.

MealCraft uses Workfile ID — a single account that works across all Workfile products. If you already have a Workfile account, you can sign in directly.

Set up your practice

Create your account

Go to mealcraft.workfile.io and click Get Started Free. Sign up with your email or Google account. You'll be taken through a quick onboarding flow.

Configure your practice profile

Head to Settings → Practice Profile and fill in:

  • Practice name — your clinic or brand name (e.g., "NutriCare Wellness Clinic")
  • Specializations — diabetes, PCOS, weight management, sports nutrition, etc.
  • Contact details — phone, email, address

Your practice name and contact details appear on every PDF export and invoice. Set this up first so your exports look professional from day one.

Add your first client

Go to Clients → Add Client. Only the first name is required — you can add everything else later.

A typical new client entry might look like:

BMI auto-calculates to 27.4 — the system flags this as overweight and suggests appropriate calorie targets.

Create your first meal plan

  1. Go to Meal Plans → New Plan
  2. Assign it to your client and set a calorie target (e.g., 1400 kcal)
  3. Set duration to 7 days
  4. Choose how to start:
    • Blank — add foods manually
    • From Template — start from a saved template
    • Generate with AI — AI fills all days based on the client's profile, targets, and dietary preference

If you choose AI, you'll see a preview of the generated meals before anything is saved. Review, edit individual items, then accept.

The builder shows real-time nutrient totals as you add foods. Search for "poha" or "oats" to find breakfast options from the IFCT, INDB, and USDA databases.

Activate and send to client

Once you're happy with the plan, click Activate. This:

  • Sets the start and end dates automatically
  • Sends an activation email to the client ("Your meal plan starts today")
  • Upgrades the client from Lead to Active (if this is their first plan)

After activation, click Send to Client to email the plan with a PDF attachment and optional personal message.

Here's what a typical 1400 kcal vegetarian day might look like:

Use the Copy meal feature to replicate breakfast across all 7 days, then tweak individual items. This is much faster than building each day from scratch.
