Meal Plan Templates
Save and reuse meal plan structures as templates for faster plan creation.
Templates let you save a meal plan structure and reuse it across multiple clients. Instead of building every plan from scratch, start from a template and customize for each client.
Creating a template
Build a meal plan
Create a meal plan as usual — add days, meals, and food items. See Meal Plan Builder.
Save as template
In the plan settings, toggle Save as template. Give it a descriptive name:
| Example template names |
|---|
| 1500 kcal Vegetarian Weight Loss (7-day) |
| PCOS Management — Low GI |
| Muscle Gain — High Protein Non-Veg |
| Diabetic Friendly — 1800 kcal |
| Pregnancy Trimester 2 |
Access from Templates
The template appears in Templates in the sidebar. You can also select it when creating a new plan for a client.
Build 5-10 templates for your most common client profiles (weight loss veg, weight loss non-veg, PCOS, diabetes, pregnancy). This cuts plan creation time from 30 minutes to 5 minutes per client.
Using a template
When creating a new meal plan for a client:
- Click New Plan (from the Plans tab or Meal Plans page)
- Select a template from the dropdown
- The plan pre-fills with the template's days, meals, and items
- Customize portions, swap foods, and adjust targets for the specific client
Templates are copies, not links. Changing a template after creating a plan from it does not affect existing plans. Each plan is independent once created.
Managing templates
Go to Templates in the sidebar to see all your saved templates. You can:
- Edit a template's meals and structure
- Duplicate a template to create a variation
- Archive templates you no longer use

Templates vs cloning
| Method | Best for | Creates |
|---|---|---|
| Save as Template | Reusable structures across many clients | A template (no client linked) |
| Clone Plan | Duplicating a specific client's plan | A new draft linked to the same client |
| Create Next Cycle | Continuing a completed plan with shifted dates | A new draft with dates starting after the previous plan |
Use templates for condition-specific starters (PCOS, diabetes, pregnancy). Use clone/next cycle for iterating on a specific client's plan week over week.
