Customers
Manage customer accounts, profiles, addresses, and order history.
Customers are people who shop on your storefront. Workfile gives each customer a unified profile with their orders, addresses, and account details.
How customer accounts work
When someone purchases from your store, they can either:
- Create an account — sign up with email/password or Google, then track orders and save addresses
- Check out as guest — buy without creating an account (their details are still captured on the order)
Customer accounts use Workfile ID — the same identity system across all Workfile products. If a customer already has a Workfile account from another store, they can sign in directly.
Viewing customers
Go to Customers in the sidebar to see everyone who has an account on your store. The list shows:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Customer's full name |
| Account email address | |
| Phone | Phone number (if provided) |
| Orders | Total number of orders placed |
| Spent | Total amount spent at your store |
| Joined | When they created their account |
Customer profile
Click any customer to see their full profile:
Overview
A summary card showing total orders, total spend, and account creation date.
Order history
Every order the customer has placed at your store — with status, date, and total. Click any order to jump to the order detail page.
Addresses
Saved shipping and billing addresses. Customers can manage these from their account page on your storefront.
| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| Name | Rahul Mehta |
| Phone | +91 99887 76655 |
| Address | 42, MG Road, Koramangala |
| City | Bengaluru |
| State | Karnataka |
| Pincode | 560034 |
Customers with saved addresses check out faster — which means fewer abandoned carts. Encourage account creation by highlighting order tracking and saved addresses on your storefront.
Customer accounts on the storefront
Your storefront has a full customer account section at /account where customers can:
- View and track their orders
- Manage saved addresses
- View their bookings (if you offer services)
- View purchased packages
- Update their profile and preferences
- Manage active sessions
Guest checkout vs accounts
| Feature | Guest checkout | Account |
|---|---|---|
| Place orders | ✓ | ✓ |
| Track orders | Via email link only | Full dashboard |
| Save addresses | ✗ | ✓ |
| Order history | ✗ | ✓ |
| Faster repeat checkout | ✗ | ✓ |
| Book services | ✗ | ✓ |
Guest checkout captures the customer's name, email, phone, and address on the order itself. This data is available in the order detail page even without an account.
Cross-store profiles
Because Workfile uses a unified identity system, a customer who shops at multiple Workfile stores has one account with separate profiles per store. Their order history and addresses are store-specific, but their login credentials work everywhere.
